Position Title: NDN Collective Managing Director

Reporting to the President & CEO and will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight of the ecosystem’s shared services entities including Advancement, Communications, Finance, Operations, Legal & Compliance, Research & Evaluation, and People, Culture & Belonging.

NDN Collective is the most ambitious, systemic effort to empower Indigenous Peoples in the history of philanthropy. We are creating a paradigm change in how society invests in Indigenous Peoples by dramatically scaling up investment and shifting decision-making power. We are doing four key things to create a new ecosystem that supports Indigenous self-determination:
- We are dramatically increasing philanthropic investment into Indigenous-led organizations, with the goal of giving out $50M per year in grants.
- We are creating an Indigenous-led CDFI to move $100M of for-profit investment into projects led by and serving Indigenous communities.
- We are building capacity in Indigenous communities to be able to absorb this new influx of capital.
- We are advocating for Indigenous rights and policy changes that will enable our peoples and communities to thrive.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Works closely with the NDN Collective Leadership to define the strategic directions of the organization.
- Facilitates and schedules Leadership Team weekly meetings
- Oversees the Leadership Team priorities including their progress and execution, which includes creating assessment or accountability measures for the Leadership Team’s work
- Develops and updates a Leadership Team overview and guide to create transparency with the NDN ecosystem
- Provides leadership, supervision, and oversight for Operations, Advancement, Finance, Communications, Research & Evaluation, Legal & Compliance, and People, Culture, & Belonging functions.
- Supervises the Directors of these functions, working with them to develop goals, activities and outcomes in their annual work plans.
- Supports Directors to accomplish their duties and responsibilities as outlined in the annual work plans for their functions.
- Develops strategic goals, coordinates activities among the functions, budgets and conserves resources, and provides quality control by measuring and adjusting performance to ensure that all mission objectives are met.
- Develops processes and procedures that make our shared services and ecosystem work more efficient, effective, and streamlined.
- Ensures consistent quality and access to Operations, Advancement, People, Culture, and Belonging, Communications and Research and Evaluation, Legal & Compliance shared services; recommends timelines and resources needed to achieve the organizational goals for these functions.
- Under the direction of the President & CEO, leads the daily internal administration of NDN Collective.
- Provides leadership in development of inter-team communication and cohesiveness, sustaining culture and supporting staff during organizational growth.
- Attracts, develops, coaches, and retains high-performance team members, empowering them to elevate their level of responsibility, span of control, and performance.
- Compiles periodic reports outlining the internal performance of the functions.
- At times additional hours, including nights and weekends may be required to meet the demands of the position and ensure smooth operation of the functions and organization as a whole.
- Significant travel may also be necessary, to attend meetings and conferences or to oversee NDN facilities.

WHO YOU ARE
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- 5 years of relevant experience in nonprofit management
Knowledge and Skills
- Skills in operations management, strategic planning, project management and leadership.
- Ability to work effectively with Indigenous Peoples and communities.
- Commitment to serving the public in a mission-driven organization.
- Ability to assess qualitative and quantitative outcome data and to provide coaching and technical assistance to grantees to help them achieve exemplary results.

This position is salaried, commensurate with experience, at a ES 5 level with a salary ranging from $135,000 to $161,000. Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance as well as 401(k) retirement plan, a wellness program, personal leave and professional development.
